PRINCETON, NJ – January 28, 2010 – CloudLinux Founder and CEO, Igor Seletskiy will deliver his first public address at the popular hosting industry conference, the Parallels Summit, on February 23 in Miami, FL. Mr. Seletskiy will debut CloudLinux, the only Linux–based, commercially supported operating system (OS) optimized for shared hosting providers and datacenters. Mr. Seletskiy will address how hosting service providers can squeeze more efficiency from their infrastructure while simultaneously increase profit margins and new revenue opportunities.
“I created CloudLinux OS based my previous work developing the H-Sphere Control Panel. I could see the need to give providers a way to control the CPU and IO demands of individual users to achieve high level of server stability,” states Igor Seletskiy, CEO of Cloud Linux Inc. “This work is based on a lot of research that has been done over the years. We went deep into Linux kernel to achieve high level of resource isolation. We also wanted to be able to offer the OS with a professionally staffed, 24/7 support operation and at a low cost for providers. So on behalf of my team and after these many months of hard work, I am proud to be introducing this new technology here at the Parallel’s Summit.”
CloudLinux was founded by Igor Seletskiy who has a 13-year, successful track record of delivering innovative new products to the hosting industry, including: H-Sphere, the first multi-server, commercially available control panel; FreeVPS, a container-based virtualization product; CP+, a simple, single server control panel; WebShell, a web-based file manager and SiteStudio, a browser-based website building tool. CloudLinux builds on Mr. Seletskiy’s extensive understanding of the unique needs of hosting service providers and is now available for download at http://www.cloudlinux.com/download.html.

Posted January 16, 2010 – 2:53 am in: Internet News, Security News, Software News
Jersey City, NJ, January 16, 2010 – Local school districts across the United States have emerged as a prime target for cyber-criminals. In the fall of 2009, districts in Colorado, Illinois, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania all reported thefts of tens of thousands of dollars each due to a cyber-crime wave. The threat continues: on January 5, 2010, the Duanesburg, New York Central School District disclosed an attempted theft of $3.8 million, about a quarter of the district’s operating budget.
These crimes have been driven by malicious software infecting central office PC’s containing the district’s electronic banking details. These details were subsequently used by cyber-criminals to access the district’s online bank account and illegally transfer money out of the account to money-mules, who subsequently transfer the funds to the criminal ringleaders.
Comodo CEO Melih Abdulhayoglu commented on this threat in a video blog post entitled Schools Hacked: Students and Taxpayers Lose, where he points out the soft-target characteristics of school districts and similar organizations including local governments, not-for-profit-organizations, and small businesses that make them attractive to cyber-criminals. Abdulhayoglu further points out the need for much stronger “Default Deny” PC endpoint security to be deployed by organizations that will always appear to be soft targets relative to larger organizations with the personnel and financial resources to mount stronger cyber-defenses.
Comodo Internet Security offers “default deny” PC security, where unknown/untrusted applications are denied access to PC resources by default, effectively preventing malicious programs such as those being targeted at local school districts an opportunity to infect and execute. Available in both 32 and 64 bit versions, Comodo Internet Security offers easily affordable, full endpoint security protection and administration.

Posted January 11, 2010 – 8:18 am in: Internet News, Security News, Software News, Technology NewsIdentity theft is America’s fastest growing crime – more than 70 million identities will be lost this year alone with as many as 3 million social security numbers being stolen. IdentityTruth has just issued an alert to businesses and consumers on new trends in identity theft.
As more and more of our financial transactions take place online, our laptops and desktops are loaded with incredibly sensitive information – social security numbers, tax filings, banking passwords, credit card numbers, medical records and more. This manifests in an alarming trend, discovered by IdentityTruth– in 2009, reported cases of stolen computers have more than doubled over 2008.
Additional surprising trends uncovered by IdentityTruth’s research:
o Hacking is UP: Think that cryptic passwords and anti-virus software keep you safe? Think again. Today’s identity thieves use software that monitors keystrokes and sends passwords to remote locations, and even devices that allow for remotely copying an individual’s desktop within a certain range! IdentityTruth’s data collected over the course of the year from all the reported data breaches shows that cases of hacking have more than doubled for 2009 (vs. 2008).
o Phishing is DOWN: There is a reason why you haven’t heard from the Prince of Namibia in a while – IdentityTruth’s research points to a significant decrease in phishing emails as thieves are finding new, more effective ways to perpetrate fraud.
o Social Networking increases risk: Consumers regularly share personal information – including date of birth, home addresses, vacation dates and typical password retrieval prompts like “pet’s name” and “city of birth”- on social networking sites, and identity thieves are taking notice. As these sites have given rise to an ocean of valuable personal data, IdentityTruth’s data points to a 50% increase over the past year, in cases of web-generated identity theft.
o Returning to the classics: IdentityTruth’s data points to a 100% increase in snail-mail based fraud – a special warning for consumers who may be unassuming of low-tech tactics. Diverting a person’s mail is a relatively easy way to acquire valuable personal information.
“Financial transactions are no longer limited to the personal desktop computer, taking security beyond the desktop and into the physical world. In addition, company employees are conducting personal financial transactions at their workplace, and relying on company firewalls and protection to keep their data safe,” said Steven Domenikos, CEO of IdentityTruth. “Identity thieves are continuously devising new schemes, and deploying new technologies to perpetrate their crimes in every corner of where we work, play and live.”

Hollie Steel joins Video Chat Community on December 18th
NEW YORK, December 16, 2009 – Paltalk, the leading real-time, video-based chat community with over four million active members, today announced that Hollie Steel, the 10 year old finalist from the UK TV show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, will perform live on News Talk Online on the Paltalk News Network on Friday, December 18 at 5 PM EST.
Steel’s first performance on the British TV show literally took the judges’ breath away when she sang "I Could Have Danced All Night." But a subsequent appearance turned disastrous when she forgot the words to the song she was singing and broke down crying. The judges took pity on her and allowed her to come back – and she remained a finalist – leading to her signing with a record label in September after which she began recording her debut album.
Ms. Steel will be performing three songs on Paltalk, including her first single, "Where Are You Christmas?" She will also be taking questions from the Paltalk audience.

Posted December 7, 2009 – 5:15 am in: Articles, Internet News, Security NewsWireless networks have been the call for the day. There has been an increase in the usage of Wi-Fi Internet all over the world. People who use fully secured Wi-Fi network are protected already, whereas people who use particially or unsecured network are at stake. Hence the Wireless Wi-Fi Internet network is now most targeted by the hackers. The usage of unsecured wireless network, it’s like a cup of tea to the hackers. They love to eat it i.e. Hack it without any difficulty. That’s much easy because Wireless networks send/receive packets using radio frequency or optical wavelengths to broadcast.
There are thousands of victims everyday who lose their data / Money online, who get unwanted inquires, who get caught for the mistake or illegal emails which was sent to government for which the person who owns the Wi-Fi network is not responsible. This all happens because of unprotected network, which is utilized by hackers to do all such third-minded activities. If someone hacks your network and sends a treat mail to the government, the cyber crime may first locate the ip, which will belong to person who haven’t sent the mail. Moreover it makes the task difficult and complicated to the police to locate the original sender.
A recent study says that unsecured wireless networks would be next biggest target to the hackers hence the number of Wi-Fi users has been substantially growing day by day. In order to protect the Wi-Fi networks from getting hacked easily, it’s better to follow a few basic security measures such as changing the system password frequently in specific time intervals, changing the default passwords provided by the computer itself, Switching off the Wi-Fi network- when not in use, having a firewall installed in your computer for intrusion prevention and making sure that the internet service provider itself is providing an authenticated network.

Posted November 30, 2009 – 10:21 am in: Articles, Event News, General News, Regional News, Social News
Recently on 29th of November the TED event was held inside IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), Madras in IC and SR Building. TEDx, x=independently organized event is a self organized program that brings people to spread their ideas, and share their experience of what they have encountered in life. The speech are such inspiring that it would really shape-up one’s attitude towards life and achievement. My first time to the TED, was really a great experience for me. Some of the most inspired speakers for me in the TED show were
Mr. N.Vittal – Best known for being the Central Vigilance Commissioner

Mr.Vittal’s speech really gave me an idea of what is the present economy and the government is all about. And the words that stood in my heart was that when he was a secretary in Government, he sent a circular to all his staff a questionnaire, which said, what is the objective of the organization, what do the deal with, what can be done improve it and other few questions. The time duration for the giving the answer was one month. But after a month, he only received some 20 answer sheets out of some 500+. With this he was able to recognize who are really having an idea of what they are doing, and new ideas of how to improve and develop the business. So with this I got an idea, of whatever the situation is, first we need to identify and then pick and utilize the right ones, without bothering about others.
Dr. Santhosh Babu, IAS. MD ELCOT, & Director e-Governance & CEO, TNeGA, Govt. of TN.

He is really having a great insight towards education and development of technology in Villages. Infact he has changed so many unused government places such community halls, old government buildings etc and turned them into schools, and BPO’s. This was telling me, make use of the existing resources and do something good out of it which is helpful for the economy.
R. Madhavan –IITian turned agriculturist

For a fact, we all earn to make our living which includes the major food, shelter and clothing. Mr.Madhavan an engineering graduate from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) has turned into an agriculturist and now is in farm taking care of the agricultural works. In fact his aim is to bring down the mal-nutrition in India. His speech said early retirement needs to be given and it would be good after retirement they can product food in agricultural lands. Off course Yes, I myself have been thinking from my first career that I would buy at least 1 acre of land and do agriculture at my 40’s. Mr.Madhavan has did it bit early, but I am going to do it in my 40’s. So I also would contribute to the Indian economy (infact once 75% of population in India was dependent on agriculture, but now?)
Mr.Satyabrata Dam –a mountaineer

Satyabrata Dam’s speech was so awesome that was talking about the highest peaks he has climbed and at the same time the message conveyed by him was that whatever the goal is just look it and start climbing, if you see backwards then you are gone, so focus on the goal and you will achieve it. And Yes, he pointed out that reaching the destination is not that easy, but still your focus, tries will really get you on to the top.
Also the other’s who shared their experience include
Romulus Earl Whitaker the founder of Madras Snake Park, The Andaman and Nicobar Environment Trust, and the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust.
Anil Srinivasan and Sikkil Gurucharan who gave a wonderful Carnatic song with music.
Sharada Ramanathan – a film director and one of the cultural writers in India. Krupalatha Martin Dass – who shapes up underprivileged slum children providing hope & opportunities.
Mr G R K Reddy - MARG Group
Kavita- a member of A.R. Rahman’s Music Conservatory .
Jeeva Raghunath – an international professional storyteller who made audience as child in few minutes.
Khurshed Batliwala or ‘Bawa’ – an NGO, who teaches Art of Living.
Thanks to the Sponsors :
Without sponsors and organiser its pretty much difficult to organize a show. So I really thank all the sponsors for TEDx Chennai namely K7 Computing, Cognizant, Photon, Latentview, AAT, ThoughtWorks, Orangescape, CVIAC, NextWave Multimedia, SIFY, Chennailive 104.8 FM, F5ive Technologies and other contributors.
